GOVERNMENT RELATIONS/LOBBYING

Our government relations and lobbying team represents business and industry before the Virginia General Assembly on a variety of legislative matters. Although the General Assembly in session for only forty-five or sixty days – depending on the year – our work for clients goes on throughout the year.

When the General Assembly is in session, we can be found at the State Capitol advocating on behalf of our clients. The days start early and often run late into the night. During that time we are constantly gathering and analyzing information and communicating with elected officials to help our client’s meet their goals. We offer wise counsel, an unparalleled work ethic and a reputation for honesty and integrity. In a dynamic and fast moving session, where quick thinking and the ability to advocate is critical to sucess, our skills and expertise serve our clients well.

We maintain close relationships with legislators when the General Assembly is not in session and work to build relationships between our clients and members of the legislature, the Offices of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General as well as other key departments and agencies in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

We regularly help clients with all aspects of the legislative process, including:

  • Meeting with elected officials and others throughout the year to lay the groundwork for a productive and successful legislative session;
  • Drafting legislation;
  • Testifying before legislative committees and subcommittees;
  • Monitoring relevant legislation; and
  • Lobbying elected representatives when the General Assembly is in session.
